We left Winnipeg after a quick stop at Tim Hortons. Highway 6 North all the way. Our friends in Cross Lake were convinced we would get lost after Ms Prinn suggested lunch in the Pas. The Pas would be the wrong way. So glad we asked as when we first asked google maps the route in Toronto it said there wasn’t one. Google was wrong, of course there is a gorgeous road leading to Cross Lake.
We stopped to see where Ronnie used to work. It was a nice stop, and we were talking to the new managers and workers. Apparently, a couple of Winnipeg Blue Bombers (football players) will be in Cross Lake when we are there! Fun.
Fuad and Mohammed were interested in participating in the marathon that's coming up. Too bad it wasn't this week.
There was a fun little gas station in in Grand Rapids where we filled up and grabbed lunch. They actually had some pretty decent sushi.
The forests of birch trees are gorgeous. Just beautiful thick forests full of birch line the roads. It really made the red dress project that much more real after seeing it at the human rights museum and on philosophers walk.
I guess people really do feed the bears along highway 6 as this bear was determined to get us to feed him and chased our vans. The bear was a good size and was eager to come right up to our windows begging.
Elaine and Ronnie hosted a huge dinner at there place that their daughter Fawn was so kind to make. The Winnipeg Jets were playing (and won in OT we think but we stopped paying attention). It was such an amazing and truly inspirational and emotional night that none of us will soon forget.
